What is ‘Zam.Exe’

Several Windows customers have contacted us with concerns after realising that a particular process (Zam.Exe) is eating up a lot of their computer’s resources.

And slowing down their Internet connection or other applications. Some consumers may be concerned that they are interacting with a malicious programme due to this behaviour.

The Zam.Exe file can be found on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10, so it is not specific to a single Windows release.

What is ZAM.exe?

Zemana AntiMalware is a widely used malware removal tool, and its main executable, zam.exe, is guaranteed to be the real deal.

Obviously, the Zam.Exe file is not necessary for your OS because it is a completely separate third-party component that has nothing to do with operating system services.

Even if you don’t have Zemana AntiMalware installed, it’s likely that this application was introduced by Zemana AntiLogger.

If the executable is associated with Zemana AntiMalware, its function is to initiate and control the services necessary to search for and eliminate malware, adware, and other virus-like threats.

Our tests have shown that this application may significantly impact system performance when Zemana Antimalware or Zemana AntiLogger is doing a scan.

Conclusion

Advanced Malware Protection (Zam.Exe), ZAM Controller Service (Zam.Exe), and Dokimi (Dokimi) are all names for the same Windows process. The legitimate ZAM.exe file may be associated with Zemana AntiMalware, a powerful anti-malware programme.

The Zam.Exe executable is a non-essential, optional extra that has nothing to do with Windows’ core functionality and rarely causes any problems.

If the file is associated with Zemana AntiMalware, running it will initiate and control services for scanning for and eliminating malware, adware, and other infections.
