All You Need To Know ‘Samsung Galaxy A14 5G’

Nonetheless, inexpensive phones are available, and Samsung’s Galaxy A-Series, which is far less expensive than its flagship Galaxy S line, is consistently one of the world’s best-selling smartphones.

Since it’s still a $200 phone, you can see where Samsung had to make some sacrifices, but all things considered, this is a very respectable device for the price of admission. The latest Galaxy A14 5G has a large and crisp display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel camera, and long-lasting battery life.

Samsung Galaxy A14 5G: Design

The Galaxy A14 5G’s boxy form factor is reminiscent of the iPhone 12 in several ways. A tiny curvature runs along the sides, making it unsuitable for use as a standalone display piece. The screen has a minute lip that separates it from the flat, plastic frame. This is to be anticipated, of course, from a cheap phone.

It’s not surprising that Samsung fashioned the Galaxy A14 5G from plastic for its chassis. There’s no metal casing or glass on the back of this one. Instead of being smooth glass, the back has a distinct roughness that both makes it stand out and makes it easier to hold.

Like the textured motion cards printed using lenticular technology, which display different images depending on the viewer’s perspective. The “zipping” sound can be produced by running your finger back and forth on the textured back. This special texture also helps reduce fingerprints.

The phone’s triple-lens camera array can be found on the back, albeit you only have access to one 50MP main camera; the other two lenses are 2MP macro and depth sensors. Like the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, they have a floating, single-column layout.

The SIM card slot is located at the top of the left edge, while the power button (which also functions as a fingerprint sensor) and single volume rocker are on the right. The bottom houses the earbud/microphone jack, USB Type-C charging connector, and mono speaker grill.

The USB-C cable is included with the phone, but a charging brick is not; hopefully you already have one. The mono speaker on the Galaxy A14 5G may be a letdown if you want to use the device extensively for audio-intensive activities like gaming, movie consumption, music listening, etc.

Even for a cheap phone, a single mono speaker is a letdown in this day and age, when most devices have two. Holding the phone in landscape mode, as you almost certainly will when playing games or watching movies, makes it simple to obstruct the speaker.

The Galaxy A14 5G has a 6.6-inch screen and weighs 204 grammes, yet despite its size, it doesn’t feel very hefty. It measures 167.7 by 78 by 9.1mm. Of course, the plastic body is to thank for this. Also, the plastic construction makes it significantly more sturdy than, say, a smartphone with a glass back.

It’s hardly the end of the world if you drop this, but a case is probably a good idea just in case. The Galaxy A14 5G has a distinctive textured back and an otherwise minimalist design. In the United States, it is only available in black, although it is available in three other colours elsewhere: pale green, dark red, and silver.

The Galaxy A14 5G, unfortunately, lacks an IP rating. This signifies that the phone is tough, but not resistant to dust or water. You should take special caution with this phone when near water, such as at the beach, in a pool, or — as in my case, with the recent infuriating California weather — in the rain.

Display of the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G

The Galaxy A14 5G has a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a full HD resolution of 1080p. The screen’s quality is surprisingly high for the budget, with sharp text and vibrant colours characteristic of Samsung devices. When used in bright sunshine, however, I found the screen to be less bright than I would have liked.

It can be used, but it’s not at its best. The Galaxy A14 5G, as you might expect from a more affordable handset, has noticeably larger side bezels than modern flagships. When compared to comparable smartphones, the left and right sides are noticeably slimmer, while the top and bottom are noticeably thicker.

The front-facing camera is housed in a little “U” notch at the top. The refresh rate of the Galaxy A14 5G display is worth mentioning, as it is 90 hertz. When compared to the $800 iPhone 14, which only has a 60Hz refresh rate, this is quite a feat for the $200 price tag.

Even though the Galaxy A14 5G has a 90Hz refresh rate, I still experience considerable delay and choppy motions when scrolling through my various social media and email accounts. Compared to a high-end smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S23 or the iPhone 14 Pro, the difference is striking.

The Galaxy A14 5G may only have a 90Hz refresh rate, but for a $200 smartphone, it more than holds its own. The Galaxy A14 5G’s screen responsiveness is average. Applications load instantly, and the gesture-based navigation I opted for does its job when I need it.

On the other side, the screen’s sensitivity might feel a bit excessive at times, especially since my hands are rather small in comparison to the device’s massive size. Nonetheless, the Galaxy A14’s 5G screen is impressively high-quality for such a low-priced gadget.

Samsung Galaxy A14 5G: Performance & Software

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is a $200 cheap phone, so if you’re used to higher-end devices, you could be disappointed by its performance. The Galaxy A14 5G retains its previous model’s 4GB of RAM and MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 processor. The 64GB of built-in storage isn’t much, but a microSD card can double that to 1TB.

As I mentioned before, there is a slight lag whenever I’m doing anything on the phone’s interface, and the apps don’t appear to scroll as smoothly as they do on other smartphones. Every once in a while, you should go in and clear out your memory by closing apps you’re not using, as prolonged daily use can cause a fraction of a second delay when opening apps.

Cameras Quality:

When compared to other phones in its pricing range, the Galaxy A14 5G’s camera system stands out as a standout feature. You get a 50-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel depth sensor and 2-megapixel macro lens.

There’s a 13-megapixel camera for taking selfies up front, and there’s also a mode for taking group photos with a larger field of view. In order to provide an accurate evaluation, I put the Galaxy A14 5G’s camera through its paces.

I know I said the phone has performance issues, but you wouldn’t notice them when snapping photos. All things considered, the portrait mode shots I was able to snap of my very active kid turned out amazing. Everything looks natural, with vivid colours and sharp details.

I also experimented with the night mode, and the resulting images were bright and clear, but with some noise when viewed at a higher magnification. If appearances are your only concern, though, you can feel confident sharing it online.

Samsung Galaxy A14 5G: Battery & Charging

The Galaxy A14 5G’s battery capacity of 5,000mAh is typical of budget and midrange smartphones. I used the Galaxy A14 5G to do things like check work and personal email, utilise Microsoft Teams, surf the web, shoot pictures of my extremely busy toddler daughter and store them in a family photo book, play games and watch streaming video.

Under these conditions, the battery lasted for at least two days. It’s convenient to not have to worry about plugging in your phone for a single day’s use. The Galaxy A14 5G comes with a USB-C charging cable but no wall charger from Samsung.

Fast charging for the Galaxy A14 5G maxes out at 15W, which isn’t extremely rapid when compared to rival devices. A full charge of the phone takes just over two hours. Less than half will be achieved in 30 minutes.

As a result, charging the Galaxy A14 5G to 100% requires at least a full night’s sleep. Unfortunately, wireless charging is not supported. Yet, the Galaxy A14 5G’s 5,000mAh battery ensures that you won’t have to constantly connect it to a power source.

Price & Availability

The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G has a retail price of $200, though it often goes on sale for less than that. You can buy one via Samsung or from a number of other shops, including Best Buy, Amazon, and Target. The phone is also sold by all of the major U.S. carriers, however it comes in a boring black hue there.

But, in India, you can get the Galaxy A14 5G in a couple of other colours than black and white. It appears that Saudi Arabia offers a silver colour choice in addition to the traditional deep red.

Similarly, the Exynos 1330 is a somewhat better processor than the MediaTek Dimensity 700 found in the U.S. version of the Galaxy A14 5G.
