Describe Geogenanthus.

Its colloquial name is “Geo,” despite the fact that its botanical name is Geogenanthus ciliatus. Costa Farms launched the plant earlier this year. Geo belongs to the Commelinaceae family of plants, which also includes the spiderwort, and is linked to many other common houseplants, including inch plants (Tradescantia), teddy bear vines (Cyanotis), and oyster plants (Rhoeo).

Only two of the three species in the genus Geogenanthus had been offered for sale as houseplants up until this year. Thanks to plant hunter Mike Rimland, G. ciliatus is now accessible in many garden centres and online via Costa Farms. Even though the plant is from South America, he discovered Geo while searching for plants in Southeast Asia.
