On Wednesday, 4 August, Team Qatar defeated Italy in the quarterfinals of the men’s beach volleyball tournament at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, advancing them to the semifinals.

Couple from Qatar With a 2-0 victory over an Italian duo of Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo, Cherif Younes and Ahmed Tijan clinched victory for their team.

On Thursday, Team Qatar will compete against the Russian Olympic Committee’s Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy.

They upset Team USA 2-1 on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Olympic beach volleyball tournament, where they then defeated Italy and advanced to the gold medal match.

On July 25 in Group C of the preliminary round, the dynamic tandem started their winning streak with a 2-1 victory over Team Switzerland.

The Qatari duo continued their winning streak with two additional victories on 28 July (2-1 over Italy) and 30 July (2-0 over the United States).

At the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan, Team Qatar has been establishing a name for itself.

On July 31st, weightlifter Fares Ibrahim Albakh won the first gold medal in Qatari history after lifting 225 kg.

A day later, on the 22nd, Qatar’s second Olympic gold medal winner, Mutaz Barshim, won his event.

By defying the laws of physics, Barshim won the men’s high jump competition by clearing a height of 2.37 metres. In the end, the Qatari finished with the same number of golds as the Italian Gianmarco Tamberi.

In Moscow on Monday, the draw for the Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was completed. The competition, which will take place in the Japanese capital beginning on July 24, will include 24 men’s teams and 24 women’s teams.

Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan of Qatar will be facing off against World No. 5 Jacob Gibb and Taylor Crabb of the United States, World No. 18 Adrian Carambula and Enrico Rossi of Italy, and World No. 19 Adrian Heidrich and Mirco Gerson of Switzerland in Pool C.

Shiokaze Park will host the Olympic Beach Volleyball competition in 2020. Elimination matches are scheduled for August 1–7, following the conclusion of the group stage, which runs from July 24–31.
