The 24-year-old Russian sportswoman scored 251.1 out of a possible 300.

The Chinese athlete Qian Yang won gold after scoring an Olympic record of 251.8 points. The Swiss athlete Nina Christen scored 230.6 total points, good enough for third place.

Yulia Karimova, another Russian competitor, came in thirteenth and was eliminated before the final.

The Russian Olympic team is presently in second place in the overall Olympic medal standings. There are a total of 339 medal sets throughout 33 different events.

Due to restrictions issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Russian athletes competing as the Russian Olympic Committee’s team at the Tokyo Olympics will not be permitted to show Russian state emblems.

A just half a day had passed before politics, the epidemic, and the sweltering heat in Tokyo affected the entire Olympic event.

At least for once, Yang Qian of China was spot on.

On Saturday, Yang won the women’s 10-meter air rifle event at the Tokyo Olympics, besting Russia’s Anastasiia Galashina in the process.

Even though her last attempt was her lowest of the entire competition, she still managed to beat Galashina and set a new Olympic record score of 251.8. Bronze went to Nina Christen of Switzerland.

Through an interpreter, Yang stated, “It’s unbelievable that I can be here.” I felt quite anxious. Even though the competition was fierce, I’m overjoyed to have come out on top.

When their final shots were almost simultaneously fired, Galashina was ahead of Yang by 0.2 points. As the scores flashed on the screen a fraction of a second later, the small crowd at Asaka Shooting Range let out gasps.

A quick glance upward revealed that Galashina had failed to see the two innermost rings. Yang, not Galashina, will receive the gold medal on a tray from IOC President Thomas Bach due to the Russian’s 8.9 score, as per pandemic regulations.

Postponement of Covid-19

Because a Czech player had tested positive for COVID-19, the opening round of the Olympic beach volleyball tournament had to be postponed. Markéta Sluková and her partner Barbora Hermannova were booted from the competition after a positive drug test earlier in the week.

Shiokaze Park, where the match was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday but was cancelled due to the ban on spectators, was strangely quiet. The only sound was that of the extremely loud cicadas in the neighbouring trees.

By virtue of having the berth allotted for the host country, the Japanese duo of Megumi Murakami and Miki Ishii won by default. The Czechs’ official record now reads “Did Not Start,” and all three of their round-robin opponents will be given wins.

One other member of the Czech team, men’s beach volleyball player Ondej Perui, and Sluková have tested positive after arriving in Japan. The team has stated that it is looking into the possibility that the COVID-19 outbreak is related to the team’s charter flight to Tokyo. Thanks for read our Article A.
