Gold medalist Kaylee McKeown takes home her SECOND of these Tokyo Games, while Emily Seebohm takes home the bronze.

Following a convincing victory in the 200-meter backstroke final, Australia won two more medals in the swimming competition.

In Tokyo, Kaylee McKeown won the gold medal in both the 100 and 200 metre backstroke events, giving her a clean sweep of both events.

On Saturday, McKeown was trailing Canada’s Kylie Masse by 0.74 seconds for silver after the first 150 metres of the race.

Emily Seebohm, an experienced Australian runner who was in seventh place at the halfway point and fifth at the last bend before her own amazing final 50 metres, came back to earn bronze.

McKeown won the 2019 world championships 200-meter backstroke in 2 minutes, 4.68 seconds, earning her a gold medal, a time improvement of both colour and time from her silver-medal finish in the same event in 2018.

Meanwhile, Seebohm sobbed with happiness after the 200-meter backstroke final.

Seebohm, who is 29 and competing in her fourth Olympics, had “simply so much pride” for the squad.

However, American Caeleb Dressel set a new world record to win the 100-meter butterfly final, while Australian swimmer Matthew Temple placed joint fifth.

Dressel crossed the finish line in 49 seconds, 0.45 seconds ahead of the second-placed Hungarian, Kristof Milak, and 0.65 seconds ahead of the third-placed Swiss, Noe Ponti, who won the bronze medal.
